What is the Hume Band, in a nutshell?
A wrist tracker built around healthspan rather than workout stats. It continuously watches biological age, metabolic momentum, blood pressure trends, heart rate variability (HRV), blood oxygen (SpO2), sleep stages, and skin temperature, running on a single charge for up to 14 days.
Does it need a phone nearby at all times?
The band captures and stores data independently, but the free Hume Health app (iOS and Android) is what syncs it and shows your daily insights. Your phone doesn't have to be in range constantly — the band holds several days of readings and syncs the moment your phone is back nearby.
Is it safe to get wet?
Yes. The Hume Band carries an IP68 rating, meaning it's dustproof and water-resistant to 1 meter for up to 2 hours. Showering, swimming, and sweating through workouts while wearing it are all completely fine.
How reliable are the sensor readings?
The Hume Band runs 5 LEDs alongside 4 photodiodes, sampling biometric signals more often than most comparable wearables, with accuracy validated through internal lab testing plus independent third-party comparisons. As with any optical wrist sensor, results shift slightly with fit, skin tone, and motion — for the steadiest data, wear it snug, roughly a finger's width above the wrist bone.
